Founder's Letter: Our Journey to Arkulus

Hey there,

I’m Clive Cadogan of Arkulus Mobility Ltd. I want to share our story and invite you to participate in a new approach to vehicle security.

Our journey began with a simple, powerful observation. Despite advances in vehicle technology, security seemed an afterthought. Even new cars have minimal security features. It's up to owners to protect their vehicles. And let’s be honest—most of us aren’t doing enough to protect our cars.

We listened to countless stories from car owners about their frustrations and fears about car theft. They relied solely on GPS tracking, and alarms weren’t cutting it. Cars are still getting stolen at a concerning rate. We need a new approach focusing more on prevention.

Today’s cars are becoming more like computers on wheels, facing new and sophisticated threats. So, we asked ourselves, how can we make vehicle security on the same level as rapidly emerging car technology? Our answer is to make vehicle security an intelligent system that can evolve to handle new and emerging threats.

Here is what we have done for ourselves.

We have a small and growing fleet that we occasionally rent, so we needed to solve this problem ourselves. So, the question arose regarding how we can control who has access and can drive the cars. This led us to build a Biometric immobilization system that allows only authorized drivers to drive our cars.

Once we had driver authorization sorted, we had to find an answer to how to allow others to access the cars. We wanted an easily accessible way to authorize sharing, so we built an easy-to-use mobile app. This allows us to easily share and manage driving permissions with other drivers through the app.

From our research, we later learned the issues with tampering faced when sharing vehicles. A recent trend is targeting Hybrid vehicles just for their battery. We have several hybrid cars. So, we are adding a cost-effective custom GPS and automated video monitoring solution that detects and sends notifications to the app when tampering is detected, allowing us to address issues as they are detected.

We are becoming concerned about our cars being stolen by force, so we are enabling drivers to disable our systems to ensure driver safety.

As new threats emerge, we will continue to assess and develop feasible and effective measures that will give us the best chance to protect our assets.

Cost is a concern, so we have ongoing research and development to create more feasible solutions.

Why are we doing this? We believe every car owner deserves peace of mind. Our cars are a valuable asset; we should feel secure knowing they’re protected.
